All 5 Toll Plazas: Location, Distance & Details
1. Talegaon Toll Plaza (Entry from Pune)
Location: Km 0, Dehu Road interchange
Distance from Pune (Swargate): ~25 km
Distance from Hinjewadi: ~18 km
Distance from Wakad: ~15 km
Car toll: ₹115 | SUV: ₹170
Lanes: 12 (6 FASTag, 4 cash, 2 hybrid)
Facilities: Restrooms, ATM nearby
Wait time: 1-2 min (FASTag), 5-10 min (cash)
This is the first toll you hit on the expressway from Pune. Coming from Kothrud, Deccan, or Shivaji Nagar, you'll reach it via the Katraj tunnel route. From Hinjewadi and Wakad it's a straight run in via Dehu Road. Most of our Pune to Mumbai cab pickups start from one of these areas.
2. Khandala Toll Plaza
Location: Km 50, near Lonavala/Khandala
Distance from Pune: ~75 km
Distance from previous toll (Talegaon): 50 km
Nearby landmarks: Lonavala exit, Amby Valley Road
Car toll: ₹75 | SUV: ₹110
Lanes: 8 (4 FASTag, 3 cash, 1 hybrid)
Facilities: McDonald's and CCD nearby
What to expect: The ghats and valley drop-offs open up from here
The Khandala stretch is where the ghat descent begins. Heading to Lonavala? You exit just before this toll, so you skip the Khandala charge entirely, and our Lonavala sightseeing cab drops you right at the popular viewpoints. The road turns curvy past this point, so our drivers ease off the speed. For travellers wondering which day and hour to set off, our note on the best time to travel Pune to Mumbai covers the traffic windows in detail.
3. Khalapur Toll Plaza
Location: Km 78, near Khopoli
Distance from Pune (Swargate): ~103 km
Distance from Mumbai (Sion): ~55 km
Distance from previous toll (Khandala): 28 km
Car toll: ₹75 | SUV: ₹110
Lanes: 10 (5 FASTag, 3 cash, 2 hybrid)
Facilities: Rasoi restaurant, HP petrol pump
Nearby: Imagica theme park exit
Khalapur is the most searched toll plaza on the whole expressway. That's likely because it sits near the midpoint and people use it to gauge "how far am I from Pune or Mumbai?" Driving in from Mumbai and someone asks where you are? If the answer is Khalapur, you're roughly halfway home. The same midpoint logic applies on the return leg with our Mumbai to Pune cab.
4. Urse Toll Plaza
Location: Km 85, Borghat section
Distance from Pune: ~110 km
Distance from previous toll (Khalapur): 7 km
Nearby: Kinara Village Dhaba
Car toll: ₹45 | SUV: ₹65
Lanes: 6 (3 FASTag, 2 cash, 1 hybrid)
Note: Smallest toll on the expressway
Gap to next toll: Only 9 km to Vashi
Urse and Vashi are close together (just 9 km apart). Some drivers find it annoying to stop twice in quick succession. With FASTag, each stop is barely 10 seconds, so it's not a big deal.
5. Vashi Toll Plaza (Exit to Mumbai)
Location: Km 94, Kalamboli, Navi Mumbai
Distance from Pune: ~119 km
Distance from Mumbai (CST): ~40 km
Connects to: Sion-Panvel Highway, Mumbai-Goa Highway
Car toll: ₹35 | SUV: ₹50
Lanes: 8 (4 FASTag, 3 cash, 1 hybrid)
Note: Cheapest toll on the expressway
Traffic: Can get congested during peak hours
The last toll before entering Mumbai/Navi Mumbai. After this, you're on the Sion-Panvel Highway heading toward Mumbai city, or you can take the Navi Mumbai route to Vashi, Airoli, or Thane. Mumbai Airport is about 30-40 km from here depending on traffic, which is why our Pune to Mumbai Airport cab riders add a buffer for this last leg.

Expressway Exit Points
The Pune Mumbai Expressway has limited exit points, so you can't just leave anywhere. Miss your exit and you're driving to the next one, then doubling back. This is one reason many riders prefer our outstation cab service, where the driver already knows every interchange. Here are all of them:
Talegaon / Dehu Road (Km 0)
Pune end entry/exit. Connects to NH48 (Old Mumbai-Pune Highway). Use this for Pimpri-Chinchwad, Hinjewadi, Wakad.
Lonavala Exit (Km 55-58)
Exit for Lonavala, Khandala, Bhushi Dam, Tiger's Leap, Karla Caves. Take this one if Lonavala is your stop and you skip the Khandala toll.
Khopoli / Khalapur Exit (Km 78)
Exit for Khopoli, Adlabs Imagica, Karjat, Matheran base. Also connects to the old Mumbai-Pune road via NH48.
Panvel / Kalamboli (Km 94)
Mumbai end exit. From here: left for Navi Mumbai/Vashi/Thane, straight for Mumbai city via Sion-Panvel Highway, right for Mumbai-Goa Highway (Alibaug, Murud).
Important:
U-turns are not allowed on the expressway. If you miss your exit, continue to the next one and take the return lane. Emergency U-turn points exist but are only for police and emergency vehicles.
FASTag Rules & Tips
FASTag is mandatory on the Pune Mumbai Expressway. Here's what you need to know:

Where to get FASTag: Any bank, Paytm, PhonePe, or at select petrol pumps. It takes 5 minutes to activate. Minimum recharge is ₹200.
